With school starting up next week, your Net Impact leadership has been gearing up for this academic year and we wanted to touch base and let you what we have in the works.
We have two major goals for this year:
- Facilitate more professional development activities such as networking events, career panels, and field trips.
- Provide more career resources such as connecting you with other graduate and professional Net Impact chapters and providing information about case competitions, conferences and careers.
One thing will enable us to meet these goals is our brand new website! The website will help us to better communicate about news and events that are of interest to you. We will are also in the process of building a list of resources for our members.
But we need your help to reach these goals. We need to know what you want to get out of Net Impact this year. We also need to know what kind of things you wish you had resources about, i.e. job boards, careers in microfinance, local conferences, business plan competitions, how to write a sustainable business plan, etc. So, please email us your thoughts, ideas, hopes and dreams so we can do our best to make it happen.
Mark your calendars for some events:
August 25 (This Thursday!), 3:30-4:30 – Net Impact will be tabling on the campus green for Graduate Student Orientation/Ice Cream Social. Stop by and tell us all about your summer. (In case of rain, in Kneller Athletic Center.)
September 15, Noon-1:00 – Pizza and Panel Kick-Off Meeting! Our first meeting of the year will include a panel of Net Impact members who participated in exciting summer internships. Join us for pizza and to hear how your fellow Net Impact-ers spent their summer using business to make change. (We need panel members! Email me if you had an internship and are willing to share your experiences.)
September 30 – The 3rd MA Green Career Conference will be held in Marlboro, MA. Registration is only $45 for students and that includes speaker sessions, exhibitors, roundtable discussions, career coaching, lunch and free book raffle. October 27-30 – Net Impact Conference! This year’s NI conference will be held in Portland, OR. Some of our chapter will be attending, so even if you can’t make it to the west coast we will certainly come back with lots to share. For more info: http://2011.netimpact.org/.
